27/11/08 'Two is a Magic Number': Tackling Two-Tier Issues
The LAA PLUS Network held a Peer-to-Peer Challenge Workshop on 27th November on two-tier issues in the delivery of LAAs. The primary purpose of the event was for practitioners from County and District councils and key LSP partners to exchange approaches, problems and possible solutions on a range of issues unique to two-tier authorities. This paper summarises the learning generated from the day.
11/11/08 'It started with the number 35': a mid-year review
The LAA PLUS Network held a Delivery Seminar on 11th November on members’ preparation and expectations for the first mid-year review of new LAAs. The primary purpose of the event was for practitioners to support and challenge one another on their approach to the mid-year review. This note summarises the discussions on the day, including what PLUS members want from their mid-year review and what agenda items they want as part of the discussion, the practical steps they are taking to get ready and outstanding questions for central government.
22-23/10/08 Cohesion and Community Conflict
This Paper summarises the learning generated by participants at the LAA PLUS Peer-to-Peer Challenge Workshops: ‘Focus on Cohesion and Community Conflict’, held in London on 22nd October and in Manchester on 23rd October. The workshops focused on key cohesion issues raised by delegates and on National Indicators relevant to these, such as NI1 (% of people who believe people from different backgrounds get on well together in their local area), NI4 (% of people who feel they can influence decisions in their locality) and NI35 (building resistance to violent extremism).
25/06/08 Dreaming of Equality
This Paper summarises the learning generated by participants at the LAA PLUS Peer-to-Peer Challenge Workshops: Dreaming of Equality. Two events were held in Manchester and London on 25th and 26th June respectively, bringing together a rich mix of different areas and partners with different experiences of promoting equalities through LAAs.

The second part of the LAA PLUS New Year, New Challenges Seminar gave practitioners an opportunity to look at the real issues affecting their LAAs post sign-off. These delivery challenges are captured in this learning paper.

11/03/08 Peer-to-Peer Challenge Workshop: 'What's Your Problem?'
Two workshops were led and facilitated by practitioners who worked through some key challenges faced by local partnerships in the run up to the sign-off of LAAs in June. This outcome note captures the main challenges faced by participants and some practical solutions incorporating the latest information on the National Indicator Set, Area Based Grant, and LAA timetable.
26/09/2007: Outcome Paper: Keynote Event Managing the 'transitional review' LAA refresh
Following from an event held in late September this outcome paper explores the new arrangements for LAAs. The paper also contains case studies on Oldham and Cumbria's approach to the 'dry run' process and how they are managing the transition to their second generation LAAs.
19/06/2007 : Outcome Paper: Driving your LAA through effective governance and delivery mechanisms
This outcome paper outlines the new arrangements for LAAs and gives practical tips on how to manage the transition including the new timetable, the duty to co-operate and new funding arrangements.
25/04/07: Outcome Paper: Cross-boundary regional working through LAAs and MAAs
This outcome paper provides and update on current government thinking on the MAA agenda and maps the key barriers and challenges. Good practice examples are provided by Thames Gateway South Essex and the Birmingham, Coventry and Black Country City Region. The paper concludes that MAAs will require robust partnership arrangements and an accountable body structure if they are to succeed.
